Follow Friday - What I'd say to fave author

Follow Friday is a feature created by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.  It's a fun blog hop where you meet other book bloggers and find people to follow.
Question: What is the one thing you wish you could tell your favorite author?
Hmmmm.  I'd rather have a conversation with my favorite author than tell them something.  How many times can JK Rowling be told that she changed someone's life/reading habits/dreams with her books?  I'd rather talk to her about something else.  Maybe get some recommendation for good mythology books.  I'd also like to hear about some of the best hidden gems in Scotland.

I'd also like to talk to Melina Marchetta.  Anything I ever needed to say to her she's seen when she's visited my blog (My Froi Review & Melina Marchetta Around The World post).  I'd like to hear more about Australia, particularly the Italian-Aussie experience.  In America we're so ingrained in our own racial history that I feel like sometimes we forget that there are similar experiences around the world only for different cultures.  My knowledge of Australia is limited to knowing they have good books and a couple of people I volunteered with at Our Chalet (yep met lots of Australian's in Switzerland. Go figure).  I'd like to learn more about the Australia outside of the postcards I've received.

Very cool answer. I would love to learn more about different places and cultures. I am always fascinated to no end when I can learn about such things.

It would be interesting to learn more about the authors' background and home. What a great thought!

Awesome answer! Backgrounds definitely interest me also. It's one of the reasons I majored in Sociology. I love learning about cultures.

I like your idea of talking to her about something else. You're totally right, she's probably heard it all by now and I'm sure would appreciate a normal conversation!

Here’s my FF post

Happy reading!

Hopping through. Brilliant idea. I adore Marchetta. One of the most skilled YA writers (or any writer).

Great answer! I had to read Looking for Alibrandi in English class in Australia... although I guess for us, its not the same as for people outside Australia. Im surrounded by Italian Aussies, but to let you know, they are exactly like the Italian Americans... they have these Italian clubs where in one building there is a nightclub, soccer stadium, cafes, mini casino, massive halls for weddings etc. I go for ice cream there with my grandparents. I guess you can say the whole italian community is always there. They even have their own suburb where they all live together and go to church together, haha.
Although, all the nationalities are like that, with Greek Australians, Croatian Australians and all the others. Its so tight nit that there was even a soccer league just for different countries, so the Italians would play the Croatians, Greeks etc.

If you ever want to know more about the foreign cultured side of Aus, do let me know as I grew up in the heart of it :D

Great answer! I think almost everybody wants to tell J.K Rowling how much she changed our lives, so it's very nice that you would tell/talk about something else :)

Nice questions. I'd be interested in the question about hidden gems in Scotland! I am familiar with Rowling as I am sure many are, but I have not heard of the other author.

Thanks for stopping by the blog! Already following via Linky. :)

Great answer! It would be great to talk to the person that happens to be an author than just the author. You're right, a lot of authors get that "Oh, you're so great and you changed my life" speech, it would be nice to have a different subject to talk about :D
Thanks for visiting!
